Breast Implant Options
Denver, Aurora, Lone Tree and Boulder, Colorado
Once you have made the decision to have breast augmentation and have an idea of what result you hope to achieve you can begin to make choices regarding the finer details of your breast augmentation surgery. There are four main variables you need think about:
- Saline vs. High Cohesive Silicone Gel
- Incision Site
- Size
- Profile
Plastic surgeon Dr. Broadway is very experienced with breast augmentation procedures, and he has learned what looks good in a general sense, but what looks good for others may not be right for you. At your breast implant consultation, Dr. Broadway will take breast measurements and based on these measurements he will recommend a range of sizes that will fit in proportion to your body. It is best to come in with a sense of how you feel about these options. Dr. Broadway will make suggestions to help you achieve your desired result, but you will ultimately choose your implant.
Saline vs. High Cohesive Silicone Gel
Both Saline and High Cohesive Silicone Gel breast implants have features unique to their individual manufacturing. Which type you choose should be determined by which implant will best offer you the most natural and enhancing outcome to compliment your existing bodily features. Both types of breast implants will be available for you to see and feel at your consultation, as well as Dr. Broadway will review pros and cons of each implant.
Incision Site
Dr. Broadway offers 3 different incision sites for the saline breast implants. Inframammary, axillary and peri-areolar. At your consultation Dr. Broadway will discuss the pros and cons to each incision option. If you choose the High Cohesive Silicone Gel breast implant, typically the inframammary approach is the best option.
Size
In general, the bigger the breast implant, the more obvious and dramatic the change. If you want a less dramatic change, you should select a smaller implant. Depending on your body frame, there is probably also a maximum size over which you should not go if you hope to maintain a natural look, and, above that, a maximum limit on the size of implant your body will healthily support without undue risk of shifting or other complications. Also, the larger the breast implant with respect to your own breast tissue, the more it will dominate the shape of your breasts.
Profile
The High Cohesive Silicone Gel implant is available in 3 different profiles. The higher the profile, the more the implants will project from your chest. Both the moderate profile and the low profile implant have a wider based diameter and give a more natural, less dramatic appearance. In order to achieve dramatic results if you have a small frame, you will want to consider a higher-profile implant.
