Tell me more about the breast enhancement procedure
During breast enlargement surgery at our practice outside of Denver, Colorado, the patient is placed under sedation (although other methods are sometimes used) to ensure maximum comfort. An incision is made along the nipple, under the breast, or under the arm, and the implant is carefully inserted beneath the pectoral muscles or beneath the breast tissue.
Breast enlargement surgery itself takes approximately 1-1/2 hours. Absorbable sutures are used at our Denver, Colorado facility to close the incisions--which may also be taped for greater support. Soft tape may be applied over your breasts to help keep the implants settled and in place during healing after the breast enhancement procedure.
You are likely to feel tired and sore for a few days following your breast enlargement surgery, but you'll be up and around within 24 to 48 hours. Most of the discomfort associated with post breast enhancement healing can be controlled by medication. You will be given detailed instructions explaining how to care for your incisions and when to remove your tapes. As you begin to heal, you will experience different sensations -- from burning to tingling sensations. Everyone progresses differently, and some patients experience none of these symptoms. Remember that you will have breast enlargement surgery on two breasts, and each one will heal differently than the other.
Most patients of our Denver, Colorado facility typically report being able to return to work one week following breast enlargement surgery, depending on the level of activity required for their jobs. Your breasts will probably be sensitive to direct stimulation for two to three weeks following your breast enhancement procedure, so you should avoid as much physical contact as possible. Within three to four weeks of breast enlargement surgery, breast contact should be more comfortable.
Your scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks. After several months, they will begin to fade, although they will never disappear completely.
