How Breast Implant Placement Affects Results
Denver, Aurora, Lone Tree and Boulder, Colorado
The results of your breast augmentation will depend largely on personal choices you make relating to the type, size, shape and profile of your breast implants.
Another important factor is the placement of your breast implants. During your breast augmentation consultation, board-certified Denver plastic surgeon Dr. David Broadway will discuss your breast implant placement options with you and make a recommendation based on your cosmetic goals and physique.
Breast Implant Placement Methods
At the Denver-area Broadway Center for Plastic Surgery, Dr. Broadway offers three methods for the placement of your breast implants:
In subglandular breast implant placement, your breast implants are placed under your breast tissue but above your pectoral muscles. Subglandular placement typically involves a shorter recovery period and results in a more noticeably round appearance.
With subpectoral placement, your breast implants are positioned partially behind the chest muscles with the lower portion of the breast implants under breast tissue. Subpectoral breast implant placement tends to provide more subtle, natural-looking results.
Breast Implant Placement Considerations
No single breast implant placement option is the best choice for all patients. The right breast implant placement method for you will depend on a number of individual factors such as:
- Your aesthetic goals
- Your natural breast size
- Your body type
- The density of your pectoral muscles
- The density of your breast tissue
